Transfer to UMass Amherst

Every year, we welcome more than 1,500 transfer students to the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Transfer students are a highly valued group of students in our community, with each student bringing various experiences and perspectives to campus.

As a transfer student, your journey towards your degree has already begun and we look forward to helping you take the next step on your path to achieving your goals at UMass Amherst! We understand the process of transferring may seem like a mountainous task and we are here to make it as easy as possible.

Students who are completing an approved associates degree at a Massachusetts Community College may be eligible to apply through the MassTransfer program. Other transfer students should apply through the Common Application.

Transfer Events

Interested in applying? Join us for a Transfer Thursday Session to learn all about the application process, and what our admissions counselors are looking for. MassTransfer students transferring from a Massachusetts community college after completing their associate degree are also welcome to join these sessions.

Curious about UMass Amherst? During the Virtual Student Guided UMass Visit you'll spend an hour with current students, hear about their experiences, and learn more about all the university has to offer.
