The University of Massachusetts Amherst Office of Undergraduate Admissions is unable to provide students with application fee waiver codes. However, you can request an application fee waiver through the Common App itself by answering "YES" to the fee waiver question, which will allow you to submit the application without paying the application fee. 

The criteria for the fee waiver can be found here. Additionally, undergraduate admissions offers fee waivers for applicants who are veterans or currently serving in the military, or whose parents are currently serving. International students are not eligible for fee waivers, and we do not offer fee waivers for visiting campus.

After submitting your application, you or your high school counselor must provide proof of eligibility using any of the following methods: 

• Upload a completed application fee waiver form via your Status Page (NACAC Application Fee Waiver Example)
• Email a completed application fee waiver form to us at mail@admissions.umass.edu 
• Ask your high school counselor to email us at mail@admissions.umass.edu confirming your eligibility for the fee waiver 

If you are experiencing an extenuating circumstance but are unsure if you would qualify for an application fee waiver, please contact our office directly at 413-545-0222 or by email at mail@admissions.umass.edu.

If you inadvertently requested a fee waiver via the Common App or if you have since learned that you do not qualify, you must return to the Common App and change your answer on the fee waiver question to "NO" in order to access the application fee payment option at the end of the application.
