Concert Addicts Beware

Every year, UMass pays to have top artists perform at Mullins Center, the school’s giant sports and entertainment complex. In my freshman year, we had performances by singers like 21 Savage, Big Sean, Khalid, Lil Yachty, and Cardi B. This weekend, the school has hired Future, Ty Dolla Sign, and Gunna for Saturday afternoon. To any big concert goers reading this, you’ll definitely have your concert fix satisfied if you go here.

The school hires performers at least twice every spring semester, once in March and once for the Spring Concert in April. I think it’s the administration’s gift to students, giving us something exciting as a pay-off for all of our hard work. Tickets are usually free for UMass students, if you wait in line (on designated days released by the school), or they just added the option of purchasing them online for next-to-nothing prices. Students usually sell their spare tickets, too, so if you want a ticket and don’t have one, you can definitely find one somewhere. For some concerts, non-UMass students can also pay to get in, so feel free to invite your friends from other schools! A lot of people attend these concerts, so they’re a nice way to get to know your classmates while enjoying your time with your friends.

While it’s hard getting bored at such a big school because there is always so much going on, it’s exciting doing something new, like going to a concert, especially if you haven’t seen the performer before. At UMass, the administration wants us to enjoy every second we have here, and acknowledges that by hiring artists they think we will like. Not many campuses are as lively as ours, so it’s safe to say you’ll definitely have fun here at UMass.
