AFSCME: American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees
UMass Employee’s Local 1776, AFSCME Council 93, AFL-CIO, has represented University of Massachusetts employees since 1963. The local chapter currently serves over 1,700 members in various departments including Skilled Trades, Grounds, Custodial, Housing, Food Services, and Security. AFSCME, as a union, advocates for the rights and welfare of public service employees in the state, including those at UMass Amherst.
