New Employee Required Workshops

Required workshops for new employees

Training

These required trainings will get you off to the right start in your employment at the University. We value you and the talents you bring to this workplace.

New employees are required to take a session in each of the below two categories. You are expected to attend both trainings within the first six months of your employment.

  1. Respectful Workplace Training
  2. Harassment Prevention & Title IX

Other Required Trainings

Massachusetts law requires non-student employees to successfully complete:

  1. Conflict of Interest/Massachusetts Ethics training within 30 days of hire

All Commonwealth of Massachusetts employees must complete the Conflict of Interest training and acknowledge receipt of the Summary Conflict of Interest Law for State Employees online in HR Direct.

Employees receive an e-mail invitation to complete the Massachusetts State Ethics Commission on-line training. Course completion is required.

Departments may have additional training requirements for new employees based on job needs and department expectations. If you are unsure what trainings to attend, contact your supervisor and departmental HR staff.

Mandatory Reporters

All Faculty and Staff that are designated Responsible Employees are mandatory reporters for sexual harassment and are required to complete the online training:

  1. Harassment Prevention and Title IX

All University employees are encouraged to complete this training. Responsible employees are required to do so and will receive notice of this requirement.

Departments may have additional training requirements for new employees based on job needs and department expectations. If you are unsure what trainings to attend, contact your supervisor and departmental HR staff.

Cyber Security Awareness

  1. Cybersecurity Awareness for Employees of Educational Institutions

With the click of a button, we can place our very identity at risk. Furthermore, failing to follow cybersecurity measures in the workplace can lead to catastrophic results not only for us as individuals, but for our educational institutions and the students we serve. Personal information is protected by law and it is our ethical duty to do all we can to protect those who have trusted us with their sensitive data. This is why classifying and safeguarding data is a priority that must not be ignored. This course will explore the three main types of data classifications, the objectives for securing data, how to keep personal and business data separate, personal and educational institution standards for deleting and dumping data, and what to do when confronted with threats to mobile devices.

More educational and training opportunities (optional) are available for all University employees, please visit The Partnership for Worker Education and Workplace Learning & Development. Please call us if you have questions.
