Six Faculty Members Named 2026-27 Chancellor’s Leadership Fellows
The Office of Faculty Development (OFD) has announced six faculty members as recipients of the 2026-27 Chancellor’s Leadership Fellowship (CLF).
This year’s Chancellor’s Leadership Fellows are:
- Andy Danylchuk, concentration director for marine science and professor of environmental conservation
- Gloria DiFulvio, associate dean of undergraduate academic affairs and aenior lecturer II in health promotion and policy
- Julia Feldhaus, senior lecturer in STEM German and director of iSTEP
- Sally Pirie, professor in the College of Education
- Gwyneth Rost, department chair and senior lecturer II in speech, language and hearing sciences
- Matthew Thomson, Berthiaume Family Endowed Professor in Marketing
The CLF program seeks to cultivate future campus leaders by offering a half-time, one-year temporary appointment to an administrative area on campus and providing mentoring from the leader of the host unit. In addition, fellows are expected to launch a significant program during their fellowship year.
“The Chancellor’s Leadership Fellows program is an important opportunity for innovative faculty members to make a significant impact on the UMass Amherst community,” Fouad Abd-El-Khalick, provost and senior vice chancellor for academic affairs, said in an email announcing this year’s fellowship recipients. “I am excited to support their efforts to improve student access and outcomes from our first-year courses to graduate student research.”
The OFD administers the award on behalf of the Provost’s Office. Full-time tenured faculty, senior lecturers and librarians on continuing appointments are eligible for the fellowship. The CLF application and nomination process commences annually in December.
More information about this year’s CLF recipients and their projects, as well as a list of past Chancellor's Leadership Fellows by year, can be found on the OFD website.
