Review Bargaining Unit Agreements

If the position is part of a collective bargaining unit and represented by a union (a "union position"), then read through the appropriate bargaining unit agreement ("union contract") for specific requirements related to the requisition of the approved job description.

Requesting a Waiver

  • Search waivers for PSU/USA/AFSCME need to be approved by Labor Relations and Union prior to submission to Talent Management.
    • Attach approvals/backup to the documents tab of the requisition.
  • All waivers are subject to review and approval by the Office of Human Resources.

Posting Language for Flexible Work Arrangements

  • Learn more one the Flex Work at UMass page.
  • If a position is eligible for a remote or hybrid work schedule we can advertise it as such with approved language per union.
  • Add a note to the requisition if a position is eligible for remote or hybrid work and Talent Acquisition will add it to the posting text before advertising.

Recruitment Process

This process defines the various steps or statuses that an application will go through. It can be found in the Position Details section of the Job Requisition in PageUp.

Requisition Approval Process

This process determines the approval path and the approvers who will be involved in the job requisition process. It can be found in the User and Approvals section of the requisition in PageUp.

  • Colleges, Departments, and Unit determine the number of approvers.
  • Talent Management will always be the final approver, except for the direct hire process of Research Fellows, Senior Research Fellows, Post Docs, and Non-Tenure Tracks with an FTE lower than 50%.
