UMass Music and Dance to Present Live Wind Faculty Concert on Sept. 4
On Saturday, Sept. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Bezanson Recital Hall, the University of Massachusetts Amherst department of music and dance will present a free performance by Bandwidth, a new collaborative project by wind faculty members Cobus du Toit, flute; Romie de Guise-Langlois, clarinet; Jonathan Hulting-Cohen, saxophone; Joshua Michal, horn and Rémy Taghavi, bassoon. The concert, the first live performance by UMass faculty since February 2020, will also include UMass faculty member Edward Arron, cello; graduate flutist Sarah Galgano; and Smith College faculty oboist Charles Huang.
The program will feature a number of world-premieres, including “Glück” by department chair Salvatore Macchia, “Places Where the Songs Go at Night” by Anna Weesner, and “Sextet” by Ingrid Arauco; also on the program are Jeff Scott’s “Startin' Sumthin'” and Alvin Singleton’s “Sweet Chariot.”
In accordance with campus COVID-19 protocols, all patrons, and visitors to on-campus events sponsored by the department of music and dance must wear a face mask regardless of vaccination status. UMass Amherst's 2021-22 policy requires all faculty, staff and students to be vaccinated and also wear masks indoors.
