Lisa Ryan Named University’s Chief Marketing Officer

Lisa Ryan has been named the university’s chief marketing officer, effective July 15. Reporting to John Kennedy, vice chancellor for university relations, Ryan will oversee the university MarCom group, which provides a strategic suite of centralized services that handle all aspects of marketing communication, including branding, advertising, design, writing, CRM, web services, analytics and program-oriented social media.

A seasoned brand and marketing strategist with extensive experience leading marketing and communication teams, Ryan joins UMass Amherst from UC Berkeley Executive Education, where she was responsible for overseeing product development, marketing and eCommerce initiatives.

Prior to her role at UC Berkeley, she held senior marketing positions at CSAA Insurance Group, Blue Shield of California, Kaiser Permanente, Bank of the West and MasterCard International. 

She holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a bachelor’s in finance from Drake University.
