Faculty to Perform Works by Rimsky-Korsakov, Chick Corea, Stravinsky, Schubert in February
In February, the department of music and dance will present performances featuring a number of its acclaimed music faculty. Both performances will take place in Bezanson Recital Hall and are free and open to the public.
On Wednesday, Feb.12 at 7:30 p.m., the department will present the third concert in this year’s Faculty Chamber Series. The program will include wind works by Rimsky-Korsakov, Chick Corea, Amanda Harberg, and Henri Tomasi. Faculty performers will include Cobus du Toit, flute; Romie de Guise-Langlois, clarinet; Jonathan Hulting-Cohen, saxophone; Joshua Michal, horn; Rémy Taghavi, bassoon; and Nadine Shank, piano.
On Thursday, Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m., the department will present a performance by faculty cellist Edward Arron and guest pianist Jeewon Park. The husband and wife duo are frequent collaborators and are the co-artistic directors of the Performing Artists in Residence series at the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown. The Feb. 20 program will feature Stravinsky’s “Suite Italienne,” Schubert’s “Sonata in A Minor (Arpeggione),” Janáček’s “Pohádka (A Tale)” and Mendelssohn’s “Sonata in D Major.”
