Chris Misra Reappointed as 2024 InCommon Steering Committee Vice Chair
Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer Christopher Misra has been reappointed to a three-year term as the steering committee vice chair for InCommon, a provider for academic identity and access management (IAM) tools.
IAM is a system that regulates digital identities within organizations, ensuring individuals have appropriate access to data and systems while safeguarding against unauthorized entry.
“IAM plays a pivotal role in ensuring secure and streamlined management of digital access in higher education,” says Misra. “I’m honored to continue my work with the InCommon Steering Committee to advancing IAM guidance best practices that that directly impact the success and security of UMass Amherst and all higher education institutions.”
The InCommon Steering Committee is made up of volunteers across research and higher education institutions. Members are responsible for supporting IAM best practices for Internet2, a research and education network consortium. The committee provides technical and policy guidance for Internet2 and its widely used academic networking services.
