2026 U.S. News & World Report Ranks UMass Amherst Among Nation’s Best Graduate Programs
Graduate programs at the University of Massachusetts Amherst rank among the nation’s best, according to the 2026 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Graduate Schools released on April 7.
The Manning College of Information and Computer Sciences ranks No. 25 in Best Computer Science, and also placed high in the artificial intelligence sub-specialty, at No. 18.
Riccio College of Engineering programs continue to rise in the rankings, with industrial engineering at No. 35 and environmental engineering at No. 38.
The School of Public Health and Health Sciences ranks No. 49 in public health rankings, while other health disciplines also placed in the Top 50 with audiology at No. 25, speech-language pathology at No. 40 and clinical psychology at No. 44.
The Isenberg School of Management’s part-time MBA program ranks No. 44, entrepreneurship is No. 46, and accounting, newly ranked this year, is No. 48.
In the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, the sociology program ranked at No. 27, and the College of Humanities and Fine Arts’ English program ranked No. 44.
According to the 2026 U.S. News Best Graduate Schools methodology, rankings in six major fields (business, law, engineering, medicine, nursing and education) are based on statistical data and surveys of academic peers conducted from the fall 2025 to early 2026, including assessments of program quality and postgraduate outcomes.
