Mary Bridget Burns
About
Mary Bridget Burns joined the Partnership for Worker Education in November 2025 as the Assistant Programs Director to support the Facilities & Campus Services Career Ladder and the Community Works program. Dr. Burns brings to PWE her background in elementary teaching, college-level teaching, program management, education policy development, empirical research, and adult education, as well as non-profit administrative experience both as an employee and has a long-time volunteer. Dr. Burns received her undergraduate degree in English Language and Literacy from Northwestern University, a Masters in the Art of Teaching from Miami University of Ohio, and a doctoral degree in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus on Language, Literacy, and Culture from Boston College. Dr. Burns received a Fulbright Grant to teach pre-service English language teachers in Hungary, during which she also conducted research for her master’s degree. She researched women teachers’ working conditions in state-controlled public schools for her doctorate. Dr. Burns comes from a long line of union members and is honored to support the Partnership.
