Secretary Paik's Welcome Message:

Thank you for visiting this website, which provides information about the goals, structure, and activity of the Faculty Senate at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

The links on the left side of this page will take you to information about the Faculty Senate itself, including its schedule of meetings and minutes of recent meetings, and about its many Councils and Committees, where much of the work involved in maintaining shared governance of the University proceeds.

The Documents page includes the basic documents on campus governance and a wide range of campus-wide concerns. The current documents can be found in the alphabetized listings.

We also provide links to University of Massachusetts system websites and to two national associations in which we participate.

The Faculty Senate Office, at 105 Hampshire House on the south end of campus, is open from 8:00 am through 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. You can also contact the office by phoning 413-545-3611, faxing 413-545-1738 or e-mailing @email.

Faculty Senate meetings are open to all members of the campus community and to the general public. Faculty members and librarians interested in serving on the Senate or one of the Councils or Committees should contact the Faculty Senate Office. While membership in the Faculty Senate is by election of faculty in the various departments around campus and librarians divided into election districts, it is not necessary to be an elected Senator to serve on Councils or Committees.

Faculty Senate Secretary Anthony Paik
