Recommendations & Resolutions

  • The following is a list of non-binding Faculty Senate resolutions & recommendations concerning various issues. 

  • These should NOT be understood as being superior or equal to official policies passed by the Faculty Senate. 

  • These resolutions  and recommendations are organized by the academic year in which they were passed by the Faculty Senate.

What are resolutions?

Resolutions are passed by a majority in the Faculty Senate and are meant to express a general support for a particular notion or message that the Faculty Senate agrees with. Resolutions, in contrast to Acts, are non-binding pieces of legislation for the UMass community. They typically include statements on current events or recommendations for particular issues that need potential resolutions.
