In an attempt to address the problem of inadequate participation by students on Faculty Senate councils and committees and in response to suggestions from several quarters, the Rules Committee is proposing the following:

• That a one-credit University Practicum course be established, and
• That students who serve on Faculty Senate councils and committees be eligible to enroll in such a course each semester that they serve, for a maximum of six semesters, and 
• That the Secretary of the Faculty Senate be responsible for evaluating participation on a pass/fail or letter graded basis, and that such evaluation be based upon the students’ attendance, level of involvement and the written analysis of the experience.
