The UMass Professional Wardrobe Closet is recruiting faculty and staff ambassadors to help connect students with free professional clothing for interviews, internships, career fairs and other career-related opportunities.

The closet provides business casual and professional attire to students who may face financial barriers to accessing appropriate clothing. Ambassadors help raise awareness of the resource by referring students who could benefit and sharing information with colleagues who support students, including advisors, career services staff, residence life staff and faculty.

The initiative supports student confidence and career readiness while promoting sustainability through the reuse of quality clothing.

The UMass Amherst community also is invited to support the “Suit Up for Success” campaign by donating new or gently used business casual or professional attire in all sizes and styles. Professional footwear, including dress shoes, flats, and heels, also are accepted, along with excess garment bags and clothing racks.

There is a particular need for larger sizes and a variety of styles.

Donations may be dropped off at Goodell 451 or Goodell 563, and may also be placed in the after-hours box in Isenberg 101 at any time.

Items that cannot be accepted include undergarments, items with stains, rips, or holes, and damaged or excessively worn clothing.

Faculty and staff interested in becoming ambassadors may sign up through the UMass Professional Wardrobe Closet website. For questions or to request additional information, email [email protected].
