UMass Amherst Launches New Center for Employment Equity

The University of Massachusetts Amherst will launch its new Center for Employment Equity (CEE) at an event featuring guest speakers Jenny Yang, past chair of the U.S. Equal Employment Commission; Ellen Story, former state representative from Hampshire County and co-sponsor of the Massachusetts Equal Pay Legislation; Victoria Budson, executive director of the Women and Public Policy Program at Harvard University, and Enobong (Anna) Branch, UMass associate chancellor for equity and inclusion and chief diversity officer. CEE staff will also make presentations on recent reports, the center’s data portal and potential grant development support.
The event is designed to introduce the CEE and its potential for new research driven interventions to promote employment equity and prevent employment discrimination. The CEE conducts research on workplace equity, disseminating results widely to scholars, the public, policymakers, agencies, and the media. The Center for Employment Equity is committed to documenting progress, and when necessary regress, toward national goals of equitable diverse workplaces. It provides scientifically careful analyses and curated data to the community of citizens, employers, and policy makers concerned with promoting equitable workplaces.
