Thank You to the 2021 Campus Climate Survey Participants

Chancellor Kumble R. Subbaswamy emailed the campus community on Thursday expressing his appreciation to those who completed the 2021 Campus Climate Survey and announcing responses are being analyzed and that a preliminary report will be available in April 2022.

That email is as follows:

Dear Campus Community,

Thank you to the over 14,000 students, faculty, and staff who completed the 2021 Campus Climate Survey and supported our collective effort to build a more respectful and inclusive environment for all.

We have gathered a wealth of information on the perceptions and experiences of our campus community members and are grateful to all who shared their stories. The fact that so many of you participated demonstrates what we know and pride ourselves on at UMass Amherst: We have an active and engaged community, invested in the ongoing work of improving the living, learning, and working environment of our campus.

The Office of Academic Planning and Assessment, with support from the Donahue Institute, will now analyze both the quantitative survey data and the responses to open-ended questions. Release of a preliminary report is planned for April 2022. As the survey results continue to be analyzed, more detailed reports will be available after April. All this information will be shared on the Office of Equity and Inclusion website. Moving forward, the survey data and the resulting analysis and reporting will guide our process for strategic planning in specific, tangible, and significant ways by shaping campus policies, priorities, and distribution of resources.

Again, thank you to everyone who participated in our 2021 Campus Climate Survey. Through your commitment to the university, we continue advancing a community defined by inclusivity and mutual respect.

Sincerely,

Chancellor Kumble R. Subbaswamy
