Seven UMass Amherst undergraduates have been named Spring 2025 Rising Researchers in recognition of their outstanding research, scholarship and creative activity in a variety of fields. These students are proving that research is hardly confined to the inside of a science lab. The work they are pursuing, with passion and perseverance, holds promise to effect change—in the development of new life-saving drugs, on supermarket shelves, on the pages of major newspapers, on the theater stage, and at schools around the world. 

The Spring 2025 Rising Researchers are:

• Shuli Rosenfeld ’25, food science and biochemistry and molecular biology; Commonwealth Honors College
• Shakira Ebian ’25, biochemistry and molecular biology; Commonwealth Honors College
• Yaozu Chen ’25, chemical engineering
• Lindsay Forauer ’25, linguistics and theater
• Evan Owens ’25, linguistics and Portuguese
• Mia Klotz ’25, English; Commonwealth Honors College
• Carlie LaFauci ’25, journalism
