Juniper Katz, assistant professor in the School of Public Policy, has been named a climate policy fellow at the Roosevelt Institute’s policy research think tank. She will engage in writing and research on land conservation, land use and renewable energy initiatives, with a special focus on community engagement.

Affiliated with the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum, the think tank addresses issues including labor and wages, corporate and public power, and the economics of gender and race inequality.

“The Roosevelt Institute excels at amplifying evidence-based arguments in service of good policy,” said Katz. “I am thrilled to learn from the Roosevelt team and other fellows.”

Katz’s research interests include energy transformation, environmental policy implementation, nonprofits in policy and politics, and nonprofit management. She has recently co-authored studies in the Journal of Social Equity and Public Administration, the Journal of Environmental Policy & Planning and Nonprofit Policy Forum. She is one of six scholars in the institute’s 2024 fellows cohort, each bringing a unique policy focus.

“As we welcome our new class of fellows to the think tank, I am inspired by the diverse perspectives and expertise they bring to our mission of rebalancing and democratizing power in our society and economy,” said Suzanne Kahn, Roosevelt Institute think tank vice president.

Katz joins Lenore Palladino, assistant professor in the Department of Economics and the School of Public Policy at UMass Amherst, who is a senior fellow at the institute.

More information about the think tank can be found on the Roosevelt Institute website, RooseveltInstitute.org.
