MACtion Brings Parking, Traffic Pattern Changes for UMass Football Games on Nov. 4 and 18
Parking Services has announced parking relocation plans for Southwest parking lots due to the midweek 7 p.m. UMass football game against Ball State on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
Permit holders from the affected lots will receive an email message informing them of any anticipated operational changes for Nov. 3-5. Information can also be found on the Parking Services website.
Increased traffic congestion should also be expected in the vicinity of McGuirk Alumni Stadium before and after the game, with the following changes to traffic patterns in effect beginning at 2:30 p.m.:
- University Drive will be closed to southbound traffic between Massachusetts Avenue and Amity St.;
- Fearing Street will be closed from University Drive to Sunset Ave.;
- After the conclusion of the game (appx. 10 p.m.), portions of University Drive will be northbound-only until the bulk of football traffic has exited;
- These road closures may impact bus service in the affected areas, although PVTA Route B43, which has stops along University Drive, will not be impacted by these traffic changes. Visit UMass.edu/transportation for updated bus information.
Parking relocation and traffic pattern changes are also expected for the Nov. 18 home football game against Akron, though that game’s kickoff time has yet to be announced. Plans for that week will be communicated in the days prior to the game, once again via email to affected permit holders and posted on the Parking Services and Transportation Services websites.
