Elaine Marieb Center for Nursing and Engineering Innovation Joins National Infusion Collaborative
The Elaine Marieb Center for Nursing and Engineering Innovation has joined the National Infusion Collaborative (NIC), a network of healthcare and academic institutions dedicated to advancing the standards and practices of infusion therapy nationwide and enhance patient outcomes.
The NIC partnership brings technology, a clinical solutions team of knowledgeable professionals and network benchmarking from the leading infusion community in the U.S. NIC members include more than 500 hospitals, Purdue University and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).
“We are pleased to welcome the UMass Amherst Elaine Marieb Center for Nursing and Engineering Innovation to the National Infusion Collaborative,” said Sean O’Neill, co-chair of the NIC. “Their dedication to providing insights into patient care trends with medication technology aligns with our mission to continually improve the standards of infusion pump best practices. Together, we will foster innovation and enhance clinical outcomes for patients nationwide.”
Center co-directors Karen K. Giuliano and Frank Sup say that the new partnership will “allow us to continue our commitment to help provide the best possible infusion care to our patients by leveraging the latest innovations and evidence-based practices. We look forward to contributing to and benefiting from this national network of expertise.”
They added, the center’s active program of laboratory and clinically based research on the safety and usability of IV smart pumps, in addition to the collaboration with NIC, will enable the center to bring forth the latest research, technology and best practices to deliver safe and effective patient care.
