AMHERST, Mass. – Learn all about apples and the ciders they create at a classroom workshop on Saturday, March 9, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Community Harvest Project Barn, 37 Wheeler Road, North Grafton.

Liz Garofalo of UMass Extension will present “For the Love of Cider!” as part of a series of home gardening workshops presented by Mass Aggie Seminars 2019.

The workshop will provide an overview of apples, from the forests of Kazakhstan to the modern American orchard, and how cider became the fruit’s popular product. Attendees will learn about heirloom and modern varieties and the flavor profiles they create. Participants over age 21 may sample both hard and sweet ciders from local cideries, at no additional cost.

The workshop costs $50. Register at UMassGarden.com.
