The MassURC is a one-day conference where undergraduate students from across the Commonwealth present research, share knowledge and learn from fellow students. The conference brings together undergraduate students from the twenty-eight public colleges and universities within the Commonwealth.

The 2023 conference will take place on Friday, April 28, 2023 and will be entirely virtual. The virtual approach first came about in the past few years due to the COVID-19 pandemic but is being continued by organizers to allow broad access for students to attend from all across the state without the concern of travel costs. The strengths, creativity and collaboration of the remote participants have made the past online conferences an exciting success. This year, students will submit a video presentation of their research before the conference, and then present a summary of this work as part of a panel during “Research in Highlights” sessions. The online presentations will be organized around research related to similar themes and topics.

The MassURC serves to broaden our understanding of research, showcasing investigation in over sixty subject areas, including biochemistry, history, architecture, marketing, fine art, and sociology. Going beyond observing, conference attendees have a chance to engage with undergraduate students and get an intimate look at the diverse and defining research that Massachusetts students are conducting. The MassURC is supported by Commonwealth Honors College at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education, the Massachusetts State Universities Council of Presidents and the Massachusetts Association of Community Colleges.
