Throughout its history, UMass Amherst has demonstrated a strong institutional commitment to expanding the impact of its research and scholarship in new directions, with new partners, and through creative approaches to collaboration.
In fact, UMass scholars across degrees and disciplines are partnering with industry to bring the fruits of their research to the marketplace. From the Innovation Challenge—a four-part, cross-campus entrepreneurship competition for students and young alumni—to facilitating venture funds from collaborators across fields, UMass encourages the entrepreneurial spirit that fills our community with innovators.
Headquartered in the Isenberg School of Management, the Berthiaume Center for Entrepreneurship plays a central role promoting entrepreneurship and innovation across the state.
With everything from start-up bootcamps to the Entrepreneurship Education Series to annual competitions for innovators, the Center supports the aspirational goal of UMass to be a higher education destination of choice for students who want to be entrepreneurs.
Through the UMass Innovation Institute, UMass Amherst collaborates with partners throughout the Commonwealth to provide creative approaches to society's biggest challenges. These relationships with government, industry, communities, and more help develop novel technologies, facilitate center-scale proposals, and support community-engaged research - ensuring that the knowledge and revolutions developed here are broadly shared to impact regional and national economic growth.
