Xin Hu, a doctoral student in polymer science and engineering in the College of Natural Sciences, was named winner of this year’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Community Day contest, held Saturday, March 28 at UMass Downtown. 

At the follow-up event from the 3MT finals held earlier this month, 3MT finalists to deliver their presentations again, this time in front of an audience made up of local community members including Chancellor Javier Reyes. Audience members were asked to select a People’s Choice Winner based on the presentation they found the most engaging and Xin’s presentation, “Microfiber weaves,” was selected as this year’s People’s Choice Winner and worthy of the competition’s $250 prize.
