UMass Football Travels to Pitt Sept. 4 to Open 2021 Season
The 138th season of Massachusetts football kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 4, as the Minutemen head to Pittsburgh for the first-ever meeting between the two programs at 4 p.m. The game will be televised nationally on the ACC Network, with the UMass Sports Radio Network broadcast will be available locally on WHMP (101.5 FM, 1240AM and 1400AM) and WCRN (830 AM).
Under the direction of third-year head coach Walt Bell, the Minutemen face a 12-game schedule that, in addition to Pitt, also includes matchups against Power Five opponents Boston College and Florida State. UMass takes on BC in the home opener at McGuirk Alumni Stadium on Sept. 11, the first time the Eagles have come to Amherst since 1982.
The Minutemen enter the 2021 season with 35 new faces across its offensive, defensive and special teams depth charts, and features 31 players from Massachusetts, the most since 2016.
