New Era of UMass Football Kicks Off at McGuirk Stadium Saturday

UMass football will kick off its 142nd season on Saturday, Aug. 30, when first-year head coach Joe Harasymiak leads the team onto the McGuirk Stadium turf to face Temple at 3:30 p.m.
A former defensive coordinator at Big 10 schools Minnesota and Rutgers, Harasymiak will guide the Minutemen into a new – though somewhat familiar – chapter for the program, as UMass rejoins the Mid-American Conference (MAC) this year following nine seasons as an independent.
Home games for the Minutemen this season include traditional Saturday matchups against Bryant on Sept. 6, Western Michigan on Oct. 4 and Buffalo on Oct. 18, as well as midweek, primetime MACtion games under the McGuirk lights against Northern Illinois on Wednesday, Nov. 12, and Bowling Green on Tuesday, Nov. 25.
Redshirt junior Brandon Rose, a transfer from Utah, has been named the team’s starting quarterback and will lead the offense of a team that collectively posted a 3.15 GPA following the spring semester, its best team GPA for a semester since 2018.
To celebrate the new era of Minutemen football and as a continuation of the success UMass Athletics had connecting with the campus community at the recent Lunch on the Lawn event, complimentary tickets to Saturday’s game are available to faculty and staff through a special promotion available only at www.umassathletics.com/kickoff25. Additional tickets for friends and family may also be purchased at a discounted rate through the promotion, as well, along with discounted parking passes.
