Mass Aggie Seminar Teaches How to Prune Grapes
AMHERST, Mass. – Grape pruning is the focus of a hands-on workshop scheduled for Saturday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to noon at UMass Cold Spring Orchard, 391 Sabin St., Belchertown.
Sonia Schloemann, a UMass Extension educator, will lead the session, “Pruning Grapes,” which is part of a series of home gardening workshops presented by Mass Aggie Seminars 2019.
One of the most universally enjoyed fruits, grapes can be fun to grow but present some challenges, including proper pruning. Participants will have the opportunity to do some actual pruning to gain experience and confidence in the process. Tool maintenance and sharpening will be addressed, and attendees may bring their own tools or use ones provided.
Part of the workshop will take place outside, so participants should dress appropriately for potentially wet, cold and muddy conditions.
The workshop costs $45. Register at UMassGarden.com.
