Leykia Nulan Awarded 2019 Professional of the Year
AMHERST, Mass. – Leykia Nulan, director of freshman admissions and assistant provost for diversity and enrollment at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, along with five others, received the 2019 Professional of the Year Award at the 2019 New England Association for College Admission Counseling (NEACAC) annual conference.
The conference, held this year at the University of Rhode Island, provides admissions professionals an opportunity to connect with colleagues from institutions throughout New England. The 2019 award recipients represented Southern New Hampshire University, Suffolk University, Bacon Academy in Connecticut and Ponaganset High School in Rhode Island.
The NEACAC Professional of the Year Award identifies individuals whose contributions to the field of college admission and counseling deserve such recognition. These awards honor NEACAC members across the profession, including those affiliated with colleges and universities, high schools, independent counselors and community-based organizations.
NEACAC identifies award recipients who are strong and ethical advocates for their students and/or their institutions, and have a proven record of accomplishment throughout their careers. They demonstrate honesty, patience, thoroughness, and sensitivity in their work with students, parents, and colleagues. They are mentors, leaders, and consummate professionals.
Nulan came to UMass in 2015 and has worked as director of freshman admissions since July of 2018.
