Bauer-Clapp has been a member of NAFA since starting her position within the Graduate School in 2015 and her involvement with the organization has grown steadily over the years. In 2019, she served on a committee designed to serve the needs of graduate advisors and in 2022 she was appointed to the NAFA board of directors as a non-voting board member. By 2023 she was elected to the board as an at-large member, prior to accepting her position as vice president in March 2025.

NAFA was formed in 2000 by a collective of university staff and faculty members interested in addressing common challenges faced during scholarship advising. With over 100 U.S. colleges and universities and several U.K.-based institutions within its membership, NAFA has made a significant, global contribution to enhancing how advising practitioners prepare students for competitive scholarships and fellowships.

More information about Bauer-Clapp and her role in NAFA leadership can be found on the Graduate School’s website.
