University Relations has announced Commencement regalia rental information for UMass Amherst faculty members. Academic regalia is required for all faculty members attending UMass Amherst Commencement ceremonies, and the rental of regalia is sponsored by the Provost’s Office and provided to the university faculty free of charge. 

This year, the university has partnered with with Herff Jones to provide Commencement regalia. Through their services, faculty members have the option to have their regalia shipped to their home address or shipped to a central location on campus for pick-up prior to Commencement. The deadline to request rental regalia is April 15, 2026.

To order regalia, follow these instructions:

• Enter University of Massachusetts in the 'Search your School' 
• Select your Degree Type
• Click 'Shop'
• Click on 'Cap & Gown'
• Fill out required information
• Add to cart
• Checkout

Faculty regalia shipped to campus may be picked up in Campus Center rooms 165-69 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on the following dates:

• Thursday, May 7
• Friday, May 8
• Monday, May 11 through Thursday, May 14

After the April 15 ordering deadline, a limited supply of regalia will be made available to faculty on the first floor of the Campus Center in room 165 on May 11 and 14. This regalia will not be customized or discipline specific and is not guaranteed.

Rental regalia may be returned by mail using the prepaid shipping label included in the regalia order or by dropping it off at 101 Munson Hall, ground floor.

Throughout the spring semester, individual schools, colleges and programs will provide instruction for their faculty’s participation in their senior recognition ceremonies. A detailed schedule of events for 2026 Commencement is available at umass.edu/commencement.
