Regalia
Academic regalia is required for all University of Massachusetts Amherst commencement ceremonies. Rental of academic regalia is sponsored by the Provost’s Office and is provided to faculty free of charge. After the ordering deadline, a limited supply of regalia will be made available to faculty on the first floor of the Campus Center in room 165 on the dates listed below. This regalia will not be customized or discipline specific and is not guaranteed.
The deadline to request rental regalia is April 15, 2026.
New This Year:
We are excited to be working with Herff Jones this year to provide commencement regalia. Through their services, faculty have options when ordering their regalia:
- ship faculty regalia to a central location on campus to be picked up the week before commencement (free of change)
- ship to a faculty member's home address (charged a shipping fee)
- Go to Facultydirect.herffjones.com
- Enter University of Massachusetts in the 'Search your School'
- Select and option:
- pick up regalia
- ship to home
- IGNORE 'ceremony date'
- Select your Degree Type
- Click 'Shop'
- Click on 'Cap & Gown'
- Fill out required information
- Add to cart
- Checkout
- complete billing information (you will only be charged if you are shipping to your home address).
- Complete order
Academic regalia is required for all University of Massachusetts Amherst Commencement ceremonies. Regalia rentals for faculty are complimentary, thanks to the support of the Office of the Provost.
Faculty regalia shipped to campus can be picked up on the first floor of the Campus Center rooms 165-69, on the following dates and times:
- Thursday, May 7 and Friday, May 8, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Monday, May 11 through Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Rental regalia may be returned by mail using the prepaid shipping label included in your regalia order or by dropping it off at 101 Munson Hall, ground floor.
Rental regalia must be returned by May 22.
Traffic, Parking, and Transportation
Please be advised that there will be heavy traffic on and around the university campus throughout Commencement Weekend, especially on Friday, May 15. Please allow extra time to navigate, as several roads will be partially closed or limited to one-way traffic. All cars will be directed to the nearest parking lots by UMass Police officers.
