Ela Gezen Invited to be Senior Fellow at the Freie Universität Berlin

Ela Gezen, associate professor of German, was invited to participate in the Cluster of Excellence “Temporal Communities: Doing Literature in a Global Perspective” at the Freie Universität Berlin.

This international research platform aims to create a new theoretical and methodological take on literature in a global perspective that moves beyond the categories of nation and period.

During her two-month tenure as senior fellow in Summer 2020, Professor Gezen will participate in the Cluster’s “Writing Berlin” project, which studies the manifold activities promoting international literary exchange that took place in the divided city after the building of the Berlin Wall. 

While at the Freie Universität Berlin, Gezen will continue working on her second book “Cultures in Migration: Turkish Artistic Practices and Cultural-Political Interventions in West Berlin, 1970–1980.”
