Darryl Jelley, an accomplished leader in higher education marketing and branding, has been named campus chief marketing officer (CMO). In this newly created position, reporting to the vice chancellor for University Relations, Jelley will oversee campus-wide branding initiatives and will play a leading role in advancing revenue-generating programs, including online education.

Jelley comes to the university following a stint at Southern New Hampshire University, where he served as the assistant vice president of marketing and communications and was responsible for building and leading the day-to-day operations of a 50-person internal team focused on local and national branding and traditional and digital marketing campaigns for SNHU’s online education and campus. He also served as an associate professor at SNHU teaching courses in digital interactive design.

Prior to his time at SNHU, he was the senior vice president creative director for Brand Content in Boston, leading creative teams in the process of branding, creative concepts and creation of interactive and traditional advertising for clients such as Monster.com, Keurig Brewers, iRobot, Thermo Fisher and Hyundai Kia Motor Group. Jelley also worked for Hill Holiday, where he built and launched the firm’s digital marketing group in its Boston office.

“Darryl brings a depth of experience in higher education marketing that is unmatched,” said Vice Chancellor for University Relations John Kennedy. “I am excited that he is going to apply that experience as he expands the role of marketing and new business development in online education and undergraduate recruitment.”

Jelley holds a master’s degree in communication from SNHU and a bachelor’s degree in digital media and advertising from Notre Dame College.

He will assume his role as CMO on July 16.
