Class of 2020 Celebrated through Social Media, Virtual Dance Party

In addition to the video commencement celebration, the Class of 2020 was also honored with a series of social media posts and virtual dance party, hosted by DJ Questlove.

The virtual dance party was held on Thursday, May 7 by the Fine Arts Center, closing its 2019-20 season. It was gathering of UMass students, faculty, staff, alumni, patrons and donors featuring an uplifting music set by the Grammy Award winning drummer, DJ, producer, culinary entrepreneur, and New York Times best-selling author.

Before closing the musical performance, Questlove offered words of wisdom to the graduating class.

“Fight for your future, and fight for what’s right. I want you to stay revolutionary, because I was told--that was the selling point--that this is a school of revolutionary thinking. Stay revolutionary, keep imagining things,” he said.
