The UMass Community, Democracy, and Dialogue (CDD) initiative will host its fall event, “The Consent of the Governed After 250 Years: Democracy in the age of AI and Social Media,” Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Campus Center Auditorium. 

Moderated by Jane Fountain, distinguished professor and director of the School of Public Policy, the panel discussion will feature Ethan Zuckerman, UMass Amherst associate professor of public policy, communication and information, historian Manisha Sinha of the University of Connecticut and political scientist Jonathan Nagler of New York University. 

The CDD initiative seeks to promote critical inquiry and facilitate dialogue about our most pressing geopolitical issues in ways that broaden perspectives and diminish polarization.

Lunch will be provided and the event will be livestreamed for those unable to attend in-person.
