Parking Services will introduce a gateless and ticketless entry and exit system at the Campus Center Garage starting Aug. 12.  Similar to parking at other visitor lots on campus, garage users will now pay after they have parked and before going to their destination using the ParkMobile app on their mobile device or at the garage’s newly updated pay stations. Both payment options provide users the added benefit of being able to extend their time remotely without returning to their vehicle.

UMass Parking was among the first in the region to use ParkMobile, and the app has been popular with campus parkers, with almost 90% of customers opting to use the app rather than pay stations or meters. Garage customers will now have the same multiple options for payment, including Apple Pay and Paypal, when using ParkMobile. The new system also aligns with campus sustainability goals by eliminating printed entry tickets and reducing emissions caused by cars idling in lengthy backups at peak times, which will benefit special event attendees, hotel guests and permit parkers will, as well.

The process of removing the existing gates and installing new equipment is currently underway, with the new payment system due to be activated on August 12. Additional information on the new gateless garage system is available at https://www.umass.edu/transportation/campus-center-parking-garage.

Customers with questions can also contact Parking Services at 413-577-PARK or parking@umass.edu, or visit the garage attendants’ office on the east side of Level 2 of the Campus Center Garage, which is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 11 p.m.

Additionally, Parking Services’ offices have relocated to the Whitmore Administration Building Room 139.

The move from the former location in Lot 25 places Parking Services in a more central location on campus and adds to the number of student and employee facing service departments in the building. The relocation also enables the demolition of the existing Lot 25 trailers, thereby reducing energy consumption and eliminating deferred maintenance.

The new Whitmore office will be open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
