Brittany Houston Selected for National Public Policy Leadership Cohort, Named Social Equity Center Board Member
Brittany Houston, assistant professor in the School of Public Policy in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, has been selected for the 2026-27 Network of Schools of Public Policy (NASPAA) NEXT cohort, a national leadership development program for early-career faculty in public service education. Houston has also been named to the board of the H. George Frederickson Center for Social Equity, an initiative of the American Society for Public Administration.
The NEXT program is designed to cultivate the next generation of public service education leaders. The cohort will begin its work at NASPAA’s global conference in Seattle on Oct. 1.
In her role on the Frederickson Center board, Houston will help the organization pursue its mission of advancing social equity in public administration through education, research, engagement and practice, while serving as a hub for training, advocacy and resource sharing.
Houston recently co-authored a paper proposing Quantitative Critical Race Theory (QuantCrit) as a methodological framework for public administration research. Published in Perspectives on Public Management and Governance, the article offers tools to design and interpret quantitative studies, so racial dynamics embedded in the data don’t go unexamined.
