As the land-grant, flagship university of the University of Massachusetts System, UMass Amherst enrolls more than 32,000 students taught by nearly 1,800 faculty across 12 schools and colleges. Almost 4.500 staff play critical roles in teaching, research, discovery, and learning. Eleven collective bargaining units represent University employees, including faculty/librarians, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students. Research expenditures exceeded $245 million in FY22.
