MA Group Insurance Commission (GIC) Buyout Program Open Enrollment: October 2 – October 27, 2023

MA Group Insurance Commission (GIC) Buyout Program open enrollment runs  October 2 – October 27, 2023 for plan changes effective January 1, 2024.
To qualify for the health insurance buy-out program, you must meet all of the following requirements: 

• Must be a GIC-eligible state employee or retiree.
• Must be purchasing a GIC health insurance policy July 1, 2023 and continue coverage through December 31, 2023.
• All GIC premiums must be paid up to date through December 31, 2023. If coverage is terminated for non-payment of premium the member is no longer be eligible for the Buy-Out program.
• The member must maintain GIC basic life insurance coverage.

During open enrollment eligible individuals can enroll in the GIC Buyout Program online via the MyGIC Link Portal or by requesting and returning the Buyout enrollment form online via MyGICLink. The GIC must be in receipt of the completed Buyout Enrollment by end-of-day October 27, 2023 in order to consider your application.
