UMass Amherst Featured on List of Best Colleges and Universities for LGBTQ Students

Campus Pride has named UMass Amherst to their 2021 list of Best of the Best Colleges and Universities for LGBTQ Students in the United States. UMass is one of 30 schools and colleges to be named to the list, all scoring a perfect five out of five stars on the Campus Pride Index.

In order to be in the “Best of the Best” listing, an institution had to score the highest percentages in the LGBTQ-friendly benchmarks for policies, programs and practices. The Campus Pride Index is the premier national benchmarking tool which self-assesses LGBTQ-friendly policies, programs and practices. The index has a strong theoretical research foundation in LGBTQ current programs, practices and policies for safer, more inclusive campus learning environments. The index tool has been tested extensively since 2001 and recently updated with new, higher LGBTQ national benchmarks in 2015.
