Four UMass Amherst astronomers, who are working on projects with the new James Webb Space Telescope are available to discuss the newest images recently released by the next-generation telescope.

The James Webb Space Telescope is providing an unprecedented look at the universe, and UMass Amherst astronomers are among those whose research will help unlock some of the universe’s secrets.

Alexandra Pope, professor of astronomy at UMass Amherst, will be looking at a series of galaxies that are about six billion light years away. Her research aims to understand how the black holes at their centers and the stars that are forming within the galaxies relate to each other and govern galactic evolution.
