Nagurney Co-edits New Dynamics of Disasters Volume

Anna Nagurney, the John F. Smith Memorial Professor of Operations Management at the Isenberg School of Management, has co-edited the volume “Dynamics of Disasters: Impact, Risk, Resilience, and Solutions.”

The book was published in 2021 by Springer Nature. It consists of sixteen refereed chapters with a preface, available for free download, and is based on the Dynamics of Disasters conference that Nagurney co-organized and which took place in Kalamata, Greece in the summer of 2019, along with invited contributions.

Nagurney’s co-editors on the volume are Ilias S. Kotsireas, Panos M. Pardalos and Arsenios Tsokas.

The volume has chapters on a wide range of disaster topics, with contributors from many different countries, including the use of drones for disaster assessment, disruptions to food supply chains and labor in the COVID-19 pandemic, problems of human migration, infrastructure network resilience, flood disaster prevention, cyber crises, the prevention of geological disasters, the use of blockchain technology and specialized equipment to collect and register land property information, among others.

This is the third Dynamics of Disasters conference that Nagurney has co-organized and the third volume in a series. The next such conference is planned for the summer of 2021 in Athens, Greece.
