Music and Dance Faculty to Present Chamber Ensemble, Brass Quintet Concerts
This month, the department of music and dance will present free concerts by faculty members from the string, piano, voice and brass areas.
On Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m., in Bezanson Recital Hall, the department will host a faculty chamber ensemble concert, a new feature for the fall 2019 semester. The program will include the Schumann “Romances” performed by Gilles Vonsattel, piano and Fredric Cohen, oboe; the Schumann “Liederkreis, Op. 39” by Vonsattel and Jamie-Rose Guarrine, soprano; and the Brahms “C Minor Quartet” for piano and strings by Vonsattel, Elizabeth Chang, violin; Kathryn Lockwood, viola; and Edward Arron, cello.
On Monday, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m., also in Bezanson Recital Hall, the Faculty Brass Quintet will perform a free concert of original brass quintet American music by living composers. The Quintet includes Pierce Ellison and Steven Felix, trumpet; Greg Spiridopoulos, trombone; Joshua Michal, horn and John Bottomley, tuba. The program will feature works by Clint Needham, Christopher Rouse-Artemis, Michael Tilson Thomas, Jennifer Higdon, Joan Tower and Zhou Tian.
