Monica Kane Named Associate Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and Chief of Staff at UMass IT

UMass Amherst Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer Christopher Misra has announced that alumna Monica Kane has been named associate vice chancellor for information technology and chief of staff.
Kane’s newly formed position, which she assumed Jan. 8, was created in response to a need identified by Misra to provide vision and leadership in developing a culture of customer service to enhance delivery of services to the campus community.
Kane, who earned dual bachelor’s degrees in political science and legal studies from UMass Amherst, has more than 20 years of experience in human resources and business operations and most recently served as executive director of human resources for the Office of Administration and Finance (A&F). She will now look to leverage her experience to cultivate an environment of innovation that will assess opportunities to work in new ways and to explore transforming the IT organization.
“I’m honored to join the innovative and collaborative team here in UMass IT,” Kane says. “This is an exciting time for our campus, and I’m thrilled to contribute to IT’s organizational goals as we align with the overall campus strategic plan.”
“Monica's appointment underscores our commitment to fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and learning,” Misra says. “She brings a thoughtful and respectful approach to organizational development and culture, aligning our values and goals for UMass IT and the UMass Amherst community.”
