May Kicks Off with Bone Marrow Drive for Gift of Life
The Elaine Marieb College of Nursing is inviting the UMass Amherst community to swab a cheek and potentially save a life at its Gift of Life Bone Marrow Registry Drive taking place May 1-5 at various locations on campus.

Last fall’s record-breaking drive enticed more than 3,000 students, faculty and staff to swab their way into the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Registry. UMass Amherst currently holds the record for the largest weeklong drive on a college campus thanks to the participation of the campus community.
The May 1-5 event will be held at various locations: outside the Student Union and in Southwest residence hall area from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and outside all dining commons from 6 to 8 p.m. (Berkshire Commons 8 to 10 p.m.)
For 30 years, Gift of Life has worked to engage the public in pursuing a cure for blood cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma — donors, volunteers or financial supporters. Gift of Life is the only bone marrow and stem cell registry founded and headed by a transplant recipient.
