CTL, ISI to Co-present Panel Discussion, ‘Interdisciplinary Dialogues Across Teaching, Research, and Service,’ on Oct. 29
The Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) and Interdisciplinary Studies Institute (ISI) will co-host a panel discussion, “Interdisciplinary Dialogues Across Teaching, Research, and Service,” in the Multi-Purpose Room of Old Chapel from 3:30-5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29
Hands-on, interdisciplinary teaching has the potential to engage students with deeply meaningful and transformative learning experiences. In this panel and group discussion, participants across a diverse range of fields and disciplines—including rhetoric and composition, education and critical literacies, public policy, microbiology, nutrition and public health—will share high-impact practices that bridge research, teaching, and service, give students real-world and career-oriented experiences, and engage students and faculty alike in work that truly matters.
Ela Gezen, professor of German and Scandinavian Studies and co-director of ISI, and Brian Baldi, assistant provost and director of CTL, will serve as facilitators for the event.
Participants will include Maria José Botelho, professor the College of Education, Mariana Chilton, professor of practice in the School of Public Health and Health Sciences, Bridgette Davis, assistant professor in the School of Public Policy, Kristen DeAngelis, professor of microbiology in the College of Natural Sciences, and Rebecca Lorimer Leonard, professor of English in the College of Humanities and Fine Arts.
