This spring, the Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) will highlight the wide range of teaching approaches on the UMass Amherst campus starting with a unique, lively and inspiring Teaching Showcase on Wednesday, March 27 from 3-5 p.m. in the Old Chapel Great Hall.

The university community is invited to attend the showcase to talk about teaching, see what teaching means to our faculty, hear what colleagues across campus are doing to engage students, foster well-being, teach inclusively and more. Coffee, tea and snacks will be available.

A “Sharing Showcase,” in which faculty from across campus share their teaching approaches, will be at center of the event. Speakers at the event and their topics of discussion are scheduled to include:

  • Daniel Albert, music & dance – Sense of belonging
  • Sarah Berquist, Stockbridge School of Agriculture – Student wellbeing
  • Nathan Chan, resource economics – Engaging students
  • Jaime Davila, computer science – Passion in large class settings
  • Lisa Modenos, University Without Walls – Supporting first-generation students
  • Caralyn Zehnder, biology – Grading for growth and anti-racist teaching
